Welcoming Autumn

I’m a summer baby, and summer is when I’m at my happiest. I love being outdoors with the sun warm on my bare skin, preferably by the sea or a large body of water than I can run into when I need to cool off. But I advocate seasonal living and autumn is now upon us - so I’m welcoming it with open arms. Further lock-downs are looming overhead, so I want to enjoy autumn to its fullest while we can. That means spending as much time as possible outdoors, whatever the weather - I’ve already enjoyed a few hairy hikes in gale-force winds - but it also means accepting that days are shortening and spending more time snuggled up indoors. Here are a few ways that I’ll be embracing the new season - and a few of my favourite autumn photos I’ve taken this year so far. Let me know how you will be welcoming autumn in the comments.

Heading outdoors for daily walks, challenging myself to walk at least 20 miles a week, whatever the weather

Welcoming evenings indoors, snuggled up in front of the fire with a book and a mug of chai

(Socially distanced) nights huddled around a roaring fire pit with friends

Putting away my summer clothes and organising my cold weather wardrobe

Wrapping myself up in layers of cosy jumpers, beanie hats and winter boots

Exploring places closer to home, with U.K adventures

Lighting candles around my home and turning off harsh overhead lights

Carrying my camera everywhere, capturing that magical autumnal light

Taking myself for long solo walks in the woods, admiring the foliage changing colour

Encouraging myself to continue wild swimming, wrapping myself up warm after leaving the water
